Monroe High School, despite entering the state tournament with a less-than-stellar regular-season record, showcased remarkable resilience and teamwork to secure the Division 1 District championship. First-year coach Greg Depew emphasized the team's strong sense of unity, noting how they played as a cohesive family unit, fighting together through every inning. Their journey to the title began with a convincing 8-5 victory over Belleville in the semifinals, highlighted by Cooper Robinson's dominant 12-strikeout performance and a strong offensive showing from Tavin Parkhurst, Asher Simmons, Carson Liedel, and Caden Pfeiffer. In the championship showdown, Monroe continued its stellar play, defeating Bedford 10-5. Excellent pitching from Simmons and Landon Loveland, coupled with impactful hitting from Liedle, Parkhurst, Simmons, Loveland, and Aiden Homer, sealed their memorable win.

Bedford High School, after a hard-fought season, made a significant impact by reaching the Division 1 championship game. Their path to the finals included a dramatic 2-1 extra-inning victory over state-ranked Saline, where Evan Bullard delivered a masterclass in clutch pitching, not issuing a single walk. Jaxson Lestock contributed with two crucial hits, and Griffin Brush’s single drove in the winning run. Despite their strong performance against Saline, Bedford ultimately fell to Monroe in the championship. Coach Craig Trychel reflected on their 17-11 season, acknowledging that while the team performed well when playing cleanly, consistency was a challenge throughout the year.
New Boston Huron's Dominance in Division 2 at Airport
New Boston Huron, ranked No. 2 in the state, lived up to its reputation with two overwhelming victories to claim the Division 2 District championship. The Chiefs began their day with a commanding 16-0 win over Summit Academy in a three-inning semifinal match, capitalizing on their opponent's errors. Coach Phil Yancey attributed the team's success to their consistent hitting, which had been exceptional for the past two weeks. In the finals, Huron continued their powerful display, defeating Airport 12-1. Jackson Surma was a key player, not allowing any unearned runs and contributing significantly with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate, driving in two runs. Offensive support also came from Cash Moczydlowsky and Max Mores, who each added two hits.
Airport's Resilient Campaign in Division 2
Airport High School demonstrated commendable resilience on their way to the Division 2 District finals. Their semifinal match saw them mount a comeback for a 5-4 victory over Jefferson. Coach Jeff Goins praised senior pitcher Drake Ferris for maintaining his composure when the team faced a deficit, a characteristic he displayed throughout the season. Despite their strong run, Airport ultimately succumbed to the formidable Huron team in the championship. Wally Sisler was a standout performer for Airport, going 2-for-2 in the final game. The Jets concluded their season with a respectable 21-12 record, and Coach Golns commended his players for their hard work and teamwork throughout the year.
St. Mary Catholic Central's Stellar Performance in Division 3 at Erie Mason
St. Mary Catholic Central (SMCC) secured the Division 3 District championship with a standout pitching performance from Steel Decatur in the final against Whiteford, the state's highest-scoring team. Decatur allowed only one earned run, earning high praise from Coach Jared Janssen, who compared his strategic pitching style to that of Greg Maddux. Decatur's command of the strike zone was evident, as he recorded eight strikeouts. The offense was equally strong, with Aaron Fowkes, Lukas Linzell, Grant Potcova, and Jake Angove each contributing two hits. SMCC's journey to the final included a dominant 12-2 semifinal victory over Erie Mason, where Blake Lechy struck out 11 batters, and Brock Cousino had a massive game at the plate, driving in five runs with three hits, alongside Angove's three hits and Tyler Bashaw's two.
Whiteford's Offensive Prowess and Milan's Comeback Attempt
Whiteford High School showcased its offensive strength by reaching the Division 3 District finals after routing Taylor Prep 16-1 in the semifinals, with Brody Masters and Jake Scott each tallying three hits. Meanwhile, in the Division 2 District at Adrian, Milan staged an incredible comeback, scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to secure a thrilling 5-4 semifinal win over Dundee. Ryan Hatfield was a key offensive player, and Cam Dessellier and Nickson Smith delivered strong pitching performances. However, Milan's run ended in the championship game, where they fell 11-0 to Tecumseh. Dundee's Brayden Mason and Evan Bennett also had notable contributions in their semifinal game.
Woodhaven's Dominance in Division 1 at Southgate
State-ranked Woodhaven demonstrated its superiority in the Division 1 District at Southgate, defeating Gibraltar Carlson with a decisive 6-1 victory in the semifinals. In the other semifinal match, Allen Park beat the host school 6-3, setting up a championship clash with Woodhaven. Woodhaven ultimately clinched the title with a strong 3-0 win in the finals, asserting its position as a top contender.
