A comprehensive initiative known as the Transforming Scottish Indoor Tennis (TSIT) project, a collaborative effort by the LTA, LTA Tennis Foundation, Sportscotland, and Tennis Scotland, is dedicated to bridging geographical gaps in tennis provision nationwide. The latest addition to this network is the £1.5 million facility at Galashiels Academy, which will soon open its doors, signifying a major stride in making tennis more accessible.
Galashiels Academy's New Sporting Hub
The Galashiels Academy campus, recently inaugurated earlier this year, is poised to become a vibrant sports hub with the integration of this new tennis centre. The facility will boast three modern clay tennis courts and two covered padel courts, offering diverse options for racket sports enthusiasts. This expansion builds upon the success of three other TSIT venues located in Edinburgh, Elgin, and Dumfries, reinforcing a nationwide commitment to sports development.

The introduction of these new clay courts is expected to significantly enrich the dynamic tennis community within the Scottish Borders. Currently, the region prides itself on 12 registered clubs and a robust membership exceeding 1,500 active players.
