A.J. Minter, a 32-year-old left-handed pitcher, has been a consistent presence in the Mets' bullpen this season, boasting an impressive 2.35 ERA across 23 appearances. His career spans a decade, during which he has maintained a solid 3.18 ERA over 420 games. Minter was originally a second-round draft pick by the Atlanta Braves in 2015 and had joined the Mets on a two-year contract last off-season, exercising an $11 million player option in November.
On the other side of the deal, the Mets acquire two promising infielders. Bruin Agbayani, a 19-year-old drafted by the Twins in the sixth round of the 2025 MLB Draft, has shown potential in his nascent minor league career. The 6-foot-2 infielder posted a .263 batting average with 16 walks, three doubles, six RBIs, and five stolen bases in his first 15 professional games. This season, playing for the Single-A Fort Myers Mighty Mussels, he hit .268 over 10 appearances.
Billy Amick, 23, was a second-round pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. The 6-foot-1 infielder has accumulated a .251 batting average with 34 doubles, 30 home runs, one triple, 112 RBIs, and five stolen bases across 163 minor league appearances. For the Double-A Wichita Wind Surge this season, Amick recorded a .217 batting average with 23 homers and 72 RBIs in 86 games.
Currently, the Mets find themselves at the bottom of the National League East standings with a 47-63 record, trailing the division-leading Atlanta Braves by 17.5 games. Meanwhile, the Twins hold third place in the American League Central, with a 55-55 record, three games behind the Chicago White Sox.
