The Oklahoma City Comets, the Triple-A team for the Dodgers, have revealed their initial lineup for the approaching season. The team is set to kick off their season on Friday night in Oklahoma City, facing the Albuquerque Isotopes, an affiliate of the Rockies.
Among the 43 players on the Dodgers' 40-man roster, ten are currently on the injured list (three on the 60-day IL, expanding this list to 43), with 26 actively playing in the major leagues. Six of the remaining 40-man players are slated to join the Comets. River Ryan is the only 40-man player not yet accounted for on the preliminary Oklahoma City roster, but he is expected to join soon after his pitching commitment in Arizona. Hyeseong Kim, who did not secure a spot on the Dodgers' opening day roster, is set to play various positions for the Comets, including second base, shortstop, and center field. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts emphasized the importance of giving Kim the opportunity to play every day and develop his skills across the diamond. Kyle Hurt, a right-handed reliever, is also on the roster after a notable spring training performance, and he could be called up to the majors if needed. Other relievers who made a strong impression in spring training include Paul Gervase and left-hander Ronan Kopp, who is in his first year on the 40-man roster. Ryan Ward, the reigning Pacific Coast League MVP, returns to Oklahoma City, where he holds several club records. Michael Siani is expected to patrol the outfield, potentially alongside Zach Ehrhard and James Tibbs, who were acquired from the Boston Red Sox. Jack Suwinski and utility player Ryan Fitzgerald, both of whom were briefly on the Dodgers' 40-man roster this offseason, will also be playing for the Comets. Defensive specialist Noah Miller will play shortstop, joining other non-roster invitees like Nick Senzel and Ryan Fitzgerald in the infield. The pitching staff includes veteran pitchers Cole Irvin and Keynan Middleton, as well as River's brother, Ryder Ryan, Garrett McDaniels, and Carlos Duran. Irvin and Ryder Ryan are scheduled to start the first two games, followed by Christian Romero on Sunday. Left-hander Antoine Kelly and right-hander Chris Campos, who were the last two non-roster pitchers remaining in Dodgers camp this spring, are also on the Comets' preliminary roster, along with left-hander Logan Allen, who recently signed a minor league contract. Pitcher José Rodríguez and first baseman Matt Gorski both start the season on the 60-day injured list.
The Oklahoma City Comets' preliminary roster is a testament to dedication and the relentless pursuit of excellence in baseball. It highlights the significant contributions of each player, whether they are seasoned veterans or emerging talents, and their commitment to pushing the boundaries of their potential. The journey of these athletes, characterized by hard work and resilience, serves as a powerful reminder that every challenge is an opportunity for growth and that through sustained effort, great achievements are within reach. This spirit of continuous improvement and the collective pursuit of success not only strengthens the team but also inspires fans to embrace their own ambitions with unwavering determination.
