Pace High School Dominates District 1-3A Weightlifting Championship

Pace High School's boys' weightlifting team continued its reign in District 1-3A, claiming victory in both the Olympic and Traditional classifications for the third consecutive year. This remarkable achievement underscores the team's consistent excellence and solidifies their status as a dominant force within the sport.

The Patriots showcased their superiority by securing the Olympic title with an impressive 79 points, comfortably outpacing second-place Navarre, who finished with 56 points. In the Traditional classification, Pace again emerged victorious, accumulating 75 points, while Milton secured second place with 45 points. These victories are a testament to the comprehensive training and dedication of the Pace team, particularly as they are the two-time defending state champions in both 3A Olympic and Traditional categories.

The individual performances at the championship were equally noteworthy. Several athletes from Pace, Navarre, and Milton demonstrated exceptional strength and skill, earning top honors in their respective weight divisions. From Pace, Drew Groff (129 pounds), Kollin Daniels (139 pounds), Ryan Harrigill (154 pounds), Grady White (183 pounds), and Alex Gomez (199 pounds) each clinched both Olympic and Traditional titles. Roan Strom (238 pounds) from Navarre and Joshua Stillings (Unlimited) from Milton also achieved dual victories, highlighting the depth of talent across the district.

The competition saw a strong showing from numerous weightlifters who finished within the top 10 of their weight classes. These athletes have earned the opportunity to compete for an at-large bid to the regional championships, indicating a promising future for many of them. Pace High School is set to host the Region 1-3A championship on April 25, where these talented individuals will once again vie for further advancement.
