Strategic Roster Shifts Define Patriots' Pre-Season
Punter Position Sees Immediate Change
Following an injury sustained during the final preseason match, punter Bryce Baringer has been moved to injured reserve by the Patriots. This decision means Baringer will be sidelined for at least the initial four games of the season, impacting the team's kicking game from the outset.
New Punter Joins Practice Squad
In response to Baringer's absence, Mitch Wishnowsky has been added to the Patriots' practice squad. Wishnowsky's signing comes after his recent release from the Buffalo Bills, providing a timely replacement for the punting duties as the team finalizes its roster for Week 1.
Additional Roster Transactions and Openings
Beyond the punter situation, the Patriots have made further adjustments, including placing linebacker Khalil Jacobs on injured reserve. The team also released linebacker K.J. Britt and center Ben Brown. Meanwhile, tight end Cameron Latu and linebacker Darius Muasau were claimed off waivers by other teams, creating two vacant spots on the Patriots' active roster.
Practice Squad Bolstered with Recent Cuts
To deepen their talent pool, the Patriots have signed several players to their practice squad who were part of the final cuts from New England and other teams. These additions include safety Mike Brown, wide receivers Kyle Dixon and Cameron Dorner, defensive tackles Eric Gregory and Jeremiah Pharms Jr., running backs Hassan Haskins and Lan Larison, offensive tackle Lorenz Metz, offensive lineman Jacob Rizy, cornerback Kindle Vildor, and linebacker Riley Wilson, all looking to make an impact throughout the season.
