The Philadelphia Eagles have announced the return of rookie wide receiver Brandon Hayes to their roster, a move necessitated by a wave of injuries impacting their receiving options throughout the current training camp. Hayes' representation, Quattro Sports Group, confirmed the agreement. This re-engagement with the Eagles provides the 6-foot-2, 205-pound receiver and accomplished return specialist, who hails from Southeastern Louisiana, with a second chance to establish himself within the Philadelphia organization. His previous stint with the team saw him participate in the rookie minicamp on a tryout basis after going undrafted in April. He was initially signed before the first organized team activity on May 27 but was later released on June 5 to free up a roster spot for defensive tackle Zion Wilson.
His prior exposure to the team's offensive schemes and practice environment is expected to enable him to quickly integrate and contribute to practice sessions. The Eagles' decision to bring Hayes back underscores their urgent need for additional receiving talent, especially after prominent players such as DeVonta Smith and first-round draft pick Makai Lemon sustained hamstring injuries, forcing them to miss crucial practice time. During his collegiate career, Hayes distinguished himself as an exceptional kick returner, earning consecutive first-team All-Southland Conference honors. In the 2025 season, he achieved an impressive average of 30.7 yards per kickoff return, ranking him third in the FCS, and was one of only five FCS players to score multiple kickoff return touchdowns. Additionally, he contributed significantly on offense with 227 receiving yards, 107 rushing yards, and two receiving touchdowns in his final college year.
Hayes now joins a competitive group vying for roster spots, which includes Dontayvion Wicks, who has enhanced his standing with a strong camp performance, and Darius Cooper, who has garnered attention with several challenging catches. Other notable receivers in contention are Hollywood Brown and Johnny Wilson, all competing for a place on the final 53-man roster.
