Hassell, at 24 years old, made his initial appearance in Major League Baseball last year, playing 70 games for the Nationals. However, for the current season, he has been assigned to Triple-A Rochester. During his major league stint last season, he recorded a batting average of .223, hit three home runs, and drove in 18 runs. Forty-two of his 51 starts were in the center field position. Currently, in Triple-A, Hassell is batting .215, with two home runs and 21 runs batted in. Hassell was initially drafted eighth overall in the first round by the San Diego Padres in 2020 and was later part of a significant trade in 2022 that sent Juan Soto from Washington to San Diego.
