Pittsburgh Pirates' Pitching Roster Sees Changes: Sisk to Injured List, Stratton Recalled

The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced a significant change to their pitching staff, placing relief pitcher Evan Sisk on the 15-day injured list. This move comes as Sisk is dealing with inflammation in his left elbow, a development that will temporarily sideline the effective southpaw from game action.

Sisk, who is 29 years old, has been a reliable presence in the Pirates' bullpen this season, boasting an impressive 2.23 ERA across 32 appearances. His last outing was on Monday, and his placement on the injured list is backdated to Wednesday. He joined the Pirates during the 2025 trade deadline from Kansas City and holds a career ERA of 2.67 over 51 games, with no starts, across his time with both the Royals and the Pirates.

In a corresponding roster adjustment, Pittsburgh has recalled right-handed pitcher Hunter Stratton from their Triple-A affiliate, Indianapolis. Stratton, also 29, returns to the Pirates' active roster after being re-acquired in a trade on June 18, which sent catcher Joey Bart to the Atlanta Braves. Stratton's career record stands at 3-2 with a 3.75 ERA and two saves in 60 relief appearances, having played for both the Pirates (2023-25) and the Braves (2025-26). His most recent major league appearance this season was with Atlanta, where he pitched one scoreless inning against Colorado on May 2.

This roster shuffle reflects the dynamic nature of professional baseball, where teams constantly adapt to player health and performance. While Sisk's absence is a setback, Stratton's return offers an opportunity to reinforce the bullpen, showcasing the team's depth and strategic adjustments. This transition underscores the continuous effort to maintain a competitive roster throughout the demanding baseball season.
