Key Personnel Additions Bolster Front Seven
According to insights from the NFL's Matt Okada, the Raiders meticulously targeted their front seven, bringing in several impactful players. The team invested substantially, committing $124.5 million in contracts to secure linebackers Quay Walker and Nakobe Dean, alongside defensive end Kwity Paye. Walker's impressive 95.5% tackle efficiency, ranking fourth among defenders with over 100 attempts last year, highlights his caliber. Dean, with a leading 40.7% pressure rate among linebackers with 20+ pass rushes, also brings significant disruptive potential. Furthermore, the Raiders added to their defensive end rotation by drafting Keyron Crawford from Auburn in the third round.

The arrivals of Walker and Dean are anticipated to provide a substantial upgrade in the Raiders' second line of defense, replacing former players Devin White and Elandon Roberts. Kwity Paye joins the Raiders after a 2025 season with the Indianapolis Colts where he recorded four sacks and six tackles for loss. Notably, Paye had registered at least eight sacks in each of the two seasons prior to that. Both Paye and the rookie Keyron Crawford, who notched five sacks for Auburn in 2025, are set to significantly enhance the Raiders' front four. Their presence is expected to provide a formidable complement to Maxx Crosby, intensifying the team's pass-rushing capabilities in the upcoming 2026 season.
