Reece Joten: Little Chute's Exceptional Two-Way Football Star

Reece Joten, a prominent senior at Little Chute High School, has been lauded as Local 5's Xceptional Athlete of the Week. Demonstrating versatility on the field, Joten plays both running back and middle linebacker, showcasing a unique skill set characterized by his remarkable speed. This agility allows him to not only score crucial touchdowns but also to aggressively make tackles across the backfield. His junior year was marked by significant achievements, including guiding the Mustangs to the Division 4 state championship game, where they ultimately fell to the Winneconne Wolves with a score of 28-22.

Building on his previous success, Joten's junior season statistics were impressive, with an average of 8 yards per carry, 23 touchdowns, 98 total tackles, and 3 interceptions. He expresses a strong desire to surpass these numbers in his senior year, stating, "We performed well last season, but there are definitely many areas where we can improve. If I can achieve just one more tackle or make one more play than I did last year, that's a triumph." The Little Chute team this year boasts an unusually large contingent of 23 seniors, a number Head Coach Mark Krommenacker notes as the most he has ever coached. Krommenacker emphasizes the competitive advantage such senior leadership brings, suggesting that with 23 seniors, the team is capable of challenging any opponent, particularly with a versatile player like Joten.

The squad benefits from an extraordinary camaraderie that extends both on and off the field, forged through years of playing together since fifth grade, with some having started even earlier in Pop Warner during third grade. This season, the Mustangs have already commenced with an impressive 3-0 record, with Joten at the forefront, leading in both rushing yards with 226 and tackles with 26. This collective experience and Joten's individual prowess position Little Chute as a formidable contender for another state championship run.

The narrative of Reece Joten and the Little Chute Mustangs underscores the power of sustained effort, teamwork, and individual excellence. Their journey exemplifies how dedication and a shared history can cultivate a strong team dynamic, propelling them towards ambitious goals. It's a testament to the idea that continuous improvement, coupled with unwavering spirit, is the cornerstone of triumph, inspiring not only the team but also the wider community.
