A Storied Tradition: Basketball's YMCA Roots and Macker's Return
Basketball, a sport celebrated globally, was conceived at the YMCA over 130 years ago. Its original purpose was to foster community bonds through physical activity, teamwork, and healthy competition. Continuing this legacy, the YMCA of Greater Rochester is reviving the esteemed Gus Macker Tournament, a nationwide 3-on-3 street basketball event, marking its first appearance in the city since 2019.
Join the Ranks: Registration and Community Impact
Teams comprising four players are invited to register for a fee of $200. All funds generated from Rochester's tournament will be allocated to YMCAs throughout the greater Rochester area.
