On Saturday afternoon, following the completion of the third round, the PGA Tour officially released revised tee times for the event's finale, set for Sunday, August 2nd. The primary reason for this alteration was the prediction of heavy rainfall and storms throughout the night and into the early hours of Sunday. Consequently, players are now scheduled to tee off in groups of three, utilizing both the 1st and 10th holes, with start times ranging from approximately 10:45 AM to 12:45 PM Eastern Time. This format allows for a quicker progression of play, accommodating the large field of 73 golfers who successfully made the cut.
In light of these adjustments, the gates at Detroit Golf Club will open to the public at 9:30 AM on Sunday, providing ample time for attendees to arrive before the action commences. Additionally, hospitality services, including food and beverage, will become available starting at 11:00 AM. Tournament officials anticipate that the final round will conclude around 5:45 PM, assuming no further delays or the need for a playoff. This contrasts sharply with Saturday's third round, which began at 7:30 AM, with the leading contenders, Cameron Young and Patrick Cantlay, teeing off as the final pairing at 1:50 PM, highlighting the significant impact of the weather forecast on the tournament's logistics.
This year's Rocket Classic has already seen notable performances despite or perhaps because of a significant renovation to the North Course at Detroit Golf Club.
