Salisbury-Elk Lick High School celebrates two of its standout student-athletes, Lance Jones and Ava Hummel, who have recently formalized their commitments to pursue their passions at the collegiate level. Their decisions underscore a significant achievement, allowing them to balance demanding academic pursuits with competitive sports.
Lance Jones, a multisport star, has chosen to further his education and football career at St. Francis University, a Division III institution, where he will play under the guidance of coach Chris Villarrial. Jones's impressive high school tenure includes a first-team all-state selection by the Pennsylvania Football Writers as an athlete, alongside two all-state basketball honors. As Salisbury-Elk Lick's all-time leading scorer, his transition to college football promises an exciting new chapter. Simultaneously, Ava Hummel has committed to Pitt-Greensburg, a Division III school, to play volleyball for coach Holly Saville. Hummel concludes her high school career with remarkable statistics, including 325 kills, 162 aces, 94 blocks, 70 digs, and 13 assists, showcasing her versatile skills and impact on the court.
