The team, sporting their black and orange, decisively defeated Battle Creek Pennfield with a score of 27-8. This win concluded a challenging 20-game losing streak, marking their first victory since October 13, 2023, when they narrowly beat Three Rivers 13-12.

Just the week prior, Sturgis was on the cusp of victory, falling to Coldwater 21-20 in an overtime thriller. Despite the close loss, their defense demonstrated remarkable strength. This defensive tenacity would prove crucial in their subsequent winning effort.

In their second contest of the season, the Trojans' defense once again showcased its formidable presence, holding their opponents scoreless for over three quarters. In fact, Sturgis' defense initiated the scoring before their offense, with Melachi Warner executing a 43-yard interception return for a touchdown just before halftime.
