Team Northern Ireland is poised for a full day of athletic competition as the Commonwealth Games continue in Glasgow. Early in the day, the Tollcross Swimming Centre will host various heats for Team NI. Swimmers Grace Davison and Emily Hughes are set to compete in the women's 100m freestyle, while Alana Burns-Aiken will take to the water for the 100m butterfly. Adam Bradley will participate in the 50m breaststroke, and Barry McClements aims for another medal in the S9 100m backstroke. Should they advance, the semi-finals and finals for these swimming disciplines will be held later in the evening. Concurrently, the SEC Centre will feature two of Northern Ireland's boxing hopefuls. Nicole Clyde is scheduled to face Ghana's Nancy Bamfo in the women's bantamweight 54kg round of 16, followed by JP Hale competing against England's Patris Mughalzai in the men's welterweight 65kg round of 16.
Beyond the aquatic and ring events, Team NI's representatives in bowls, Shauna O'Neill and Chloe Wilson, will take on Guernsey in the women's pairs, and later, Zambia. Gary Wilson will also be in action in the men's singles against Mitchell Graham from Norfolk Island. The netball squad will play their second pool match against Malawi at the Hydro, seeking their inaugural victory in the tournament.
