A New Chapter: Pappoe Joins the Titans
Cardinals' Roster Shake-Up Leads to Pappoe's Departure
The Arizona Cardinals finalized their roster, opting not to make any waiver claims. However, one of their released players, Owen Pappoe, found a new home. The Tennessee Titans secured the linebacker via waivers, being one of three players the Titans acquired in this process.
The Competition for the Linebacker Spot
Pappoe's departure from the Cardinals came after rookie sixth-round pick Karson Sharar surpassed him for the fourth inside linebacker position. The Cardinals had likely hoped to retain Pappoe for their practice squad, especially after re-signing Eugene Asante, another inside linebacker they had initially cut.
Pappoe's Performance and Contributions with the Cardinals
During his three seasons with the Cardinals, Pappoe, a former fifth-round draft pick from Auburn, accumulated 66 total tackles, broke up five passes, and forced one fumble. He was a significant contributor on special teams, logging over 300 snaps in each of the past two seasons. His defensive snaps were limited, primarily featuring in speed packages alongside five or six other linebackers.
A Fresh Start with the Tennessee Titans
Now with the Titans, Pappoe is expected to take on a role similar to his previous one, focusing heavily on special teams. This move offers him a renewed opportunity to make an impact within the league, leveraging his experience and skill set in a new environment.
