Trenton High School's softball team is on the brink of achieving a significant milestone as they vie for their fifth state championship in seven years today. Their opponent in the Rural Class title game is Liberty County, a team that also boasts a recent state championship win in 2023, making this a highly anticipated rematch.
Last season, Trenton dominated Liberty County with a 9-2 victory in the FHSAA Final Four. This year, Liberty County enters the championship with an impressive 21-5 record, fresh off a 10-8 win against defending state runner-up Northview. The Bulldogs are known for their powerful offense, featuring players like Cha’miya Williams, Lauren Davis, and Taylor Kincaid, who are among Florida's top performers in home runs and RBIs. However, Trenton's pitching ace, Addison Allaire, a Florida softball commit, presents a formidable challenge, having recently thrown a complete-game, one-hit shutout with 16 strikeouts in the state semifinals.
A victory today would elevate Trenton into a tie for fifth place all-time in state titles, solidifying their legacy in high school softball. This pursuit of excellence highlights the dedication and hard work of the athletes and coaching staff, inspiring not only their community but aspiring young athletes to strive for greatness and resilience in the face of strong competition.
