Minter, at 32 years old, has navigated through several injury setbacks in recent seasons. However, he has demonstrated commendable health and effectiveness this year, registering a 2.35 ERA with a 4.02 FIP across 23 innings pitched. While his strikeout rate stands at a modest 21.7%, his exceptional control is highlighted by an outstanding 2.2% walk rate, having issued only two free passes throughout the current season. Minter's pitching repertoire primarily features a cutter and a fastball, occasionally incorporating a changeup against right-handed batters and a sinker against lefties to disrupt hitters' timing. He is currently under contract for approximately $3.5 million for the remainder of the 2026 season and is set to become a free agent thereafter.
The arrival of Minter fills a crucial void left by Anthony Banda's season-ending injury, positioning him as a high-leverage left-handed option for the Twins. Although he may not possess the elite status of pitchers like Yoendrys Gomez or Andrew Morris, Minter offers a reliable, albeit not spectacular, choice for closing out games. Nevertheless, his high draft position indicates the Mets identified potential worthy of investment. Agbayani, 19, a sixth-round pick in 2025 and the son of former Big Leaguer Benny Agbayani, was selected for his advanced hit tool and plate discipline. However, injuries have limited him to only 15 games since being drafted, placing him in a similar category to many high-upside, wildcard prospects at the Complex League level who are often included in trade packages.
