The University of Miami's athletic director, Dan Radakovich, has publicly announced his decision to step down from his position, with his retirement taking effect on June 1. Radakovich, who is 67 years old, has been at the helm of the Hurricanes' athletic department since 2021, following notable stints as an athletic director at Clemson University from 2012 to 2021, Georgia Tech from 2006 to 2012, and American University from 2000 to 2001. His extensive career in collegiate athletics also includes a period as the senior associate athletic director at LSU from 2001 to 2006, and he began his professional journey at Miami as an athletic business manager from 1983 to 1985.
During his leadership in Coral Gables, Florida, Radakovich oversaw significant accomplishments for Miami's athletic programs. These highlights include the football team's impressive advancement to the College Football Playoff championship game in the recent season, the men's basketball team's historic first-ever appearance in the Final Four in 2023, and the women's basketball team's notable achievement of reaching the Elite Eight in the same year. Furthermore, the athletic department equaled a prestigious school record this past year by achieving a 94% graduation rate among its student-athletes, underscoring a commitment to both academic and athletic excellence.
