Vote for Piedmont Athens Regional High School Athlete of the Week: September 14

In a community initiative, Piedmont Athens Regional and the Athens Banner-Herald have partnered to honor local high school sports talent. Each week, exceptional student-athletes from the eighteen schools within the newspaper's coverage area are selected for nomination based on their on-field achievements from the preceding week. The public is invited to participate in choosing the recipient of this prestigious weekly title.

The nomination process is inclusive, welcoming submissions from coaches and community members alike. To ensure consideration, nominations should include the athlete's name, academic year, school affiliation, sport, playing position, and a brief explanation of their performance or statistics from a specific game that warrants their nomination. Voting for this week's athlete, covering performances from September 7-13, will be open until Sunday, September 20, at 5 p.m. New polls commence every Monday, requiring all nominations to be submitted by the preceding Saturday. It's noteworthy that an athlete who has previously earned this recognition becomes ineligible for future nominations, ensuring a wider celebration of talent across the region.

This program not only highlights individual accomplishments but also fosters a sense of community engagement and appreciation for hard work and dedication in high school sports. By recognizing these young individuals, we encourage their continued pursuit of excellence and inspire others to strive for their best, both on and off the field. Celebrating athletic achievements cultivates a positive environment that values perseverance, teamwork, and healthy competition, contributing to the holistic development of student-athletes.
