The fourth week of the football season has just wrapped up, marking a full month of gridiron action. Across the Marion area, numerous players distinguished themselves with remarkable efforts, earning them consideration for special recognition.
To celebrate these exceptional contributions, The Marion Star has launched a poll, inviting fans to cast their votes for the top performer of Week 4. The voting period extends until 9 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15th, and supporters are encouraged to participate frequently to support their favorite nominees. The lineup of candidates includes several athletes who delivered impressive statistics and clutch plays, making the selection a challenging but exciting choice for the community.
Highlighting some of the key contenders, Ryan Conway of Pleasant demonstrated an explosive offensive display, scoring three touchdowns in the first half and accumulating 104 rushing yards on seven carries, complemented by seven tackles on defense in their victory over River Valley. From the opposing side, Owen Collins of River Valley made his presence felt with a rushing touchdown and a passing touchdown despite their loss to Pleasant. Meanwhile, Jaden Jordan of Marion Harding secured a dramatic 11-yard game-winning touchdown catch with only 12 seconds remaining against Highland. For Highland, Robby Schmidt had a strong ground game, rushing for 120 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries in their defeat by Marion Harding. Northmor's Tanner Miley showcased his versatility, carrying the ball 15 times for 100 yards and two touchdowns, in addition to throwing for 131 yards and two more scores on 8 of 15 completions in their win against Cardington-Lincoln. Mount Gilead's Boe Sayers dominated with 190 rushing yards on 25 attempts and four touchdowns in a victory over Loudonville. Lastly, Elgin's Drew Brown contributed significantly on defense with 10 tackles, two tackles for loss, and a sack, though his team ultimately fell to Woodmore.
