One of the most remarkable aspects of the annual 'KYSSMAS for Kids' fundraiser is the profound transformation it brings to lives. Over the past 3 decades, the feelings of care and acceptance have reverberated deeply. We often hear stories from adults, business owners, and parents who make donations and express how they will always remember this special event.
Uniting Communities through the Magic of 'KYSSMAS for Kids'
John Maki's Inspiring Journey
John Maki's story is one of the most dramatic. Abandoned at daycare at around seven months old and entering the state foster care system, he was later taken in by the daycare owner who became his mom. Despite the financial hardships that came with having 30 or 40 foster brothers and sisters over time, John never forgot that one year when he received a gift card and had the chance to shop. "Running around the store, feeling like I could buy anything I wanted for my sister, mom, grandpa, and teachers was an incredible experience. I always wanted to give them something, and finally, I had the chance," John recalls.John's life took another turn when he raised his own family and met many people as the manager at Direct Source in Missoula. Five years ago, he made his first $250 donation for 'KYSSMAS for Kids'. The second year, he called 5 friends, and they all agreed to donate. But it was in 2022 when he came back with a whopping $10,000 donation that shocked everyone. Last year, with his growing "friends list", the donation reached $30,000. John posted that he was starting on Tuesday, and within "45 seconds", people were already responding. He emphasized that it's not about the numbers but about changing kids' lives and showing the community's care. The Power of Donations
Donations play a crucial role in this fundraiser. They not only provide financial support but also create a sense of community and hope. As John's story shows, even a small donation can have a big impact. It allows children to experience the joy of receiving gifts and knowing that they are loved and cared for. The 'KYSSMAS for Kids' fundraiser has become a symbol of unity and compassion, bringing people together to make a difference in the lives of children. How You Can Help
