In the festive season, children in foster care often face unique challenges. Delaware currently has 600 children in its foster care system due to various difficult circumstances. To brighten their holidays, the Kind to Kids Foundation organized a special luncheon party on December 8 at the Milford Senior Center, attended by 100 children and their families. The event featured a visit from Santa Claus and an array of gifts for the children. Generous support from local businesses and community members made this heartwarming celebration possible, emphasizing the importance of collective effort in fostering joy and connection.

A Heartfelt Gathering for Foster Families

The annual holiday luncheon provided a safe and supportive environment where children could experience the magic of the season. Caroline Jones, founder and president of Kind to Kids, highlighted the significance of such events in bringing love and connection to these families. The carefully curated toy selection allowed each child to choose three toys, a stuffed animal, and three books, ensuring that every child felt special and cherished.

This gathering was more than just a celebration; it symbolized the community's commitment to supporting vulnerable children. The event was filled with laughter, excitement, and heartfelt moments. For many children, this was a rare opportunity to feel included and loved during the holidays. The presence of Santa Claus added an extra layer of enchantment, making the day unforgettable for everyone involved. Local businesses like Bay to Beach Builders and Incyte played crucial roles in organizing and funding the event, demonstrating the power of collaboration in creating meaningful experiences for those in need.

Community Support and Future Initiatives

The success of the holiday luncheon was largely due to the generosity of various community supporters. From book donations by Barnes and Noble Bookstore to logistical assistance from Bayshore Moving & Storage, each contribution played a vital role in making the event a success. Senator Eric Buckson also joined the festivities, helping children select their gifts and spreading holiday cheer.

Beyond the immediate joy brought by the luncheon, the Kind to Kids Foundation continues to work year-round to improve the lives of foster children. Bay to Beach Builders supports the UGrad Academy, which aims to equip foster children with essential skills and education for future success. Deric Parker, owner of Bay to Beach Builders, emphasized the importance of providing opportunities for these children to thrive. This initiative underscores the foundation's long-term commitment to fostering hope and building brighter futures for Delaware’s foster children. Through ongoing efforts and community partnerships, the Kind to Kids Foundation ensures that the spirit of kindness and connection extends well beyond the holiday season.
