Blake Snell Set for Minor League Rehab Assignment with Ontario Tower Buzzers

Blake Snell, a pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, is poised to make his 2026 season debut with the Class-A Ontario Tower Buzzers this Wednesday. This pivotal moment marks the start of his minor league rehabilitation stint, where he will face the San Jose Giants in the second game of their series.

Having been sidelined due to shoulder fatigue since the season's commencement, Snell has shown promising signs of recovery. He has engaged in two simulated game sessions at Dodger Stadium, facing live hitters on April 11 and April 15. Expressing his enthusiasm, Snell noted after his first simulated session in Los Angeles, "It feels incredibly good to regain a sense of normalcy. Maintaining focus when throwing bullpens without facing hitters can be challenging." The Dodgers anticipate his return to the main roster in late May, aligning with the planned three to four rehab starts to build his stamina back up. If he utilizes the full 30-day rehab window, he would still be ready for activation by the last week of May.

According to Jeff Woolson, the play-by-play announcer for the Tower Buzzers, Snell aims to pitch two to three innings on Wednesday, with the exact duration dependent on his pitch count. The game in San Jose is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. PT.

Snell's diligent recovery and the methodical approach to his rehabilitation underscore a commitment to player well-being and a strategic foresight in managing athlete performance. His impending return not only brings excitement for fans but also reinforces the importance of patience and thorough preparation in overcoming setbacks, ultimately contributing to a stronger and more resilient team.
